Good cruise on marginal weather day north from Charleston to McCellanville, SC.

Finally - A Sailing Log Entry! Rented a car in Charleston, drove to Annapolis, brought the Lightning out of winter storage, raced in the Healy Hansen Sailing World Regatta, finishing 10th out of 16, put the boat away, then drove back to Charleston to continue the Great Loop Adventure.

I am claiming the following days:

1. A maintenance Day on Thursday, May 1 to get teh Lightning race ready after a year in storage. Washed the boat, located all the gear from garage hiding places, made sure everything worked, went to West Marine for parts, got teh sails up and down, etc, etc, etc. Overall, about 9 hours of work.

2. Sailing Days on Friday and Saturday resulting in 7 great races. We were 10th overall, our own worst enemies due to being over early in teh first race and a protest in the fourth. Without these mishaps, we would have ended up 8th. Our Fleet did not sail on Sunday, although I did  put the boat in the water (But did not 'leave the dock' in it)

This cruise started calm but the wind came up in the afternoon, and docking became a challenge when we arrived at St. Johns. We ended up on an exposed outer T-Head because it was the safest docking option.

A good cruise. Made a very nice landing in current at DaTaw Island. There is a nice restaurant right off the dock here.
