HIKING
If you enjoy making new friends, try hiking with Crabtowne. Hiking may pose physical challenges, but these challenges are well within the average person's ability. Whether walking around the block or in a park each is an effective way to build strength and stamina. Add a pack, boots, throw in some hills and valley's and you have an aerobic workout.
Our activities consist of walking: among battlefield monuments; through wild flowers in a field; blazing trails across Shenandoah; climbing through crags and gullies at Old Rag and shoeing lightly across freshly fallen snow. Whether you are a novice or an advanced hiker, you will be able to enjoy the scenic beauty of our surrounding area within hours of your own home.
Our hikes are classified from easy to strenuous based on distance and elevation, e.g., fatigue factor range from F1 = mild exertion, to F2 = moderate, and F3 = strenuous.
Please contact any Board member with hiking ideas or for more information.
